Christmas Buffet Dinner at Taste Cafe, G Hotel Gurney.

Christmas came early for me this year, I was treated to a scrumptious Christmas Buffet Dinner at Taste Café, G Hotel. G Hotel is a ultra chic and stylish hotel in Penang. Don’t know where? Well ask any Penangite and they would tell you where it is. The Christmas buffet starts at 630pm which was about the time I arrived with hubs, the lobby of the hotel was so beautifully decorated.

graciously at the lobby, I could not resist to take 
a photo with it.

Taste Café has a simple yet elegant Christmas setting, music coming from the live band at the lobby can be clearly heard from Taste Café. The impeccable service at Taste Café made my dining experience a really awesome one. Service staffs here always have a smile to their faces and are very helpful. 



Their Christmas Menu features international flavor and ultimate festive dishes such as the Christmas must-have Roasted Turkey with traditional stuffing served with Apple Cranberry Sauce or Giblet Gravy, Roasted Lamb with choices of sauce such as Green Pepper Corn sauce, Garlic sauce and mint sauce. Starters are pretty much standard, cold cut platter, Cheese Corner ,Salad Bar, Seafood On Ice and Cheese Corner. However standard it may be, they got me at cheese corner If you know me well from previous post, you will know how much I love cheese. Cheese and wine in this festive season. I couldn't ask for more.




              






Another dish that I really liked and kept going back for more was the Oyster au Gratin, a French cuisine. The oysters are topped with mozzarella, parmesan and crème cheese together with gratin and baked on Salamander. Simply mouth-watering.
Beef Osso Buco, is a highly recommended dish to set you in the festive mood. Beef Osso Buco is a dish where the sliced veal shanks are marinated in rock salt, pepper, rosemary, bay leaves and grape juice. 3 hours later, the marinated sliced veal shanks are then marinated again in the demi-glace, a homemade sauce using the bones, topped with mirepoix made from onion, carrot and celery before wrapped in aluminium foil and oven baked for 8 hours until tender. This juicy and delicious dish is a must-try dish. Pair it with mashed potato or buttered Herb New Potatoes.

                                                                      

Moving on to the meats, those that can’t live without meat like me will be very happy. The grilling station using Lava Stone will be set up and diners can feast upon the cuts and seafood available.  Taste Café is famed for its Lava Stone BBQ Grill which is imported from Indonesia. Lava Stone disperse heat more evenly thus resulting in yummy succulent meat. Get the chef to Barbeque your Lamb, King Prawn, Minute Steak and Bratwurst Sausages. The stuff Turkey is another must have when it comes to Christmas, although the turkey was a bit too dry for my liking but when paired with their home-made Cranberry sauce it was perfect.

Remember to leave some room for dessert. Taste Café has a wide range of Christmas Desserts, such as Christsollen, Christmas Yule Log, Colourful Macarons, Pumpkin Pie, New York Cheese Cake, Chocolate Banana Cake, assorted cookies, Christmas Pudding, Ice Cream, Fruits and Rojak too! Which dessert do I like best? The Christmas Pudding! Christmas Pudding is a Victorian dish made from suet, dried fruit, candied peel, breadcrumbs, egg and grated carrots and apples. Be warned tho, those that does not have a sweet tooth like myself might not be a fan, but I would suggest that you try a mouthful. Hey! Its Christmas After all.
