Hello! I have been so busy for the past one month, and I couldn’t be happier. Being busy keeps me sane. Lol. You might all already know that perfect skin and reversing my skin’s age has always been my lifetime goal, it always feels like the carrot is being dangled in front of me—so close, yet so far away. When it comes to my skin I will try to follow every advice that has been given by beauty gurus everywhere.  I do not sleep with makeup, I drink a lot of water and I cut down on alcohol *alcohol kills the skins.  I do not skip my skincare regime. I am happy that I do not suffer from breakouts, but my skin is still has their own set of problems i.e Dryness, fine lines and so on and so forth *I am after all human, whyyyyy?  I want flawless skin so badly, I am always up to anything that will promises great skin. I have been reviewing many aesthetic clinics here in Malaysia. Maybe one day I will be just doing reviews about plastic surgery and aesthetic. *I love plastic surgery, so far I only got my Rhinoplasty done, still saving up for the many procedures I have in mind. Lol.

So last month, I was chosen by One Doc Medical Laser & Aesthetic to try out their facial services which promises great skin.  One Doc Medical Laser & Aesthetic is a medical aesthetic centre in Malaysia. One Doc Medical currently has 5 outlets in Klang Valley, Johor Bahru and Penang. One Doc Medical Laser & Aesthetic has knowledgeable doctors that provide detailed consultation and skin analysis before a treatment.

I made my appointment with a girl friend of mine, Mei Pierce at the branch at Icon City. This branch is fairly new. We were consulted by Doctor Oh. She was very pleasant and had good skin herself, even all the staffs there has great skin which made me happy. I may be Shallow, but I always felt that if you are selling a skin product, first of all your skin must be in the best condition. So yes, I am pretty much convinced with what I saw.

Doctor Oh explained to us about the treatments and all the why’s and how’s, I learned a lot about the dermis and epidermis of our skin from Doctor Oh. She even shared with me that if ever I want to a PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), I should take a certain supplement a month before to make sure that the PRP treatment does its best. I like doctors that share knowledge instead of trying to sell.

The treatment that we are going to do is their signature Medical Facial, we all know how a traditional facial is done. This is a little bit different, unlike the traditional facial where you are going to come out with red spots or a swollen face. The One Doc Signature Medical Facial works from within. One Doc Signature Medical Facial tackles all major skin problems such as Pimples, Pores, Pigmentation and Ageing signs such as fine wrinkles/ sagging. Combining technologies, the medical facial is a one-stop treatment. Utilising hydrofacial, laser, light therapy and serum, patients receive all the benefits of cutting edge technology in a single session.
The One Doc Signature Medical Facial is done in 4 steps:-

Step 1 : Hydrofacial

Hydrofacial does great exfoliation, removing the dead skin cells on the top layer of our skin. It also removes clogs and pores. I didn’t feel any discomfort during the Hydrofacial Treatment, a nozzle glides over my face and I can feel the coolness of water, and a tool like a pump is used to extracts whiteheadblackheads and dirt and grime from our pores. Hydrofacial medically cleanses tones and moisturizes my face!  This treatment also reduces the size of pores to reveal a smooth skin. I really don’t like visible pores when taking a selfie.

Step 2 : Q-Switched Nd YAG Laser Treatment
My face is now clean; we can now proceed to the 2nd Step which is the Q-Switched Nd YAG Laser Treatment. This laser treatment is one of the most commonly talked about laser, especially by Asians.  We have more pigmentation I guess. Lol. When we talk about laser, most commonly we will be thinking swollen face, red patches, No sunlight and all sorts which is also the cause that people stay away from laser treatments.

**Laser is basically a type of light that carries only a specific wavelength, as opposed to visible light that carries a range of wavelength. Laser waves are parallel to each other and all waves move temporally in the same phase. Visible lights are not parallel and do not move temporally in the same phase. There are many lasers in the market. Nd:Yag laser is named after the laser medium,  Neodymium:yytrium-alumunium-garnet. It comes in 2 wavelengths, 1064 nm and 532 nm. It is a non-ablative laser. This means that there is no break in skin tissue continuity during the treatment. It is designed to target pigment cells. These specific wavelengths are absorbed preferentially by pigments (melanin) and the resultant heat will cause generation and propagation of waves that cause damage to the cells containing pigment. These damaged cells will then be cleared from the site resulting in lightening of the pigmented site.

A tool (*that looks like a huge pen) is moved over my face and I can feel a very warming sensation and pulse (*tiak tiak sound). The laser stimulates the production of collagen, tightens the skin and evens out my complexion. There is a little discomfort during this treatment, but more people are able to tolerate the discomfort as such they do not apply a layer of anaesthetic cream. This procedure took around 10-15 minutes (*depending on your skin). There wasn’t much redness for me after this procedure. DO not expect your skin will go back 5 years after one treatment, for best results, it is advisable to repeat the treatment every month. Do check with the doctor on what suits you.

Step 3 : Omega Light Therapy

Omega Light Therapy is used to enhance the skins natural recovery and promote skin rejuvenation. This Omega Light contains 4 different coloured LED lights to treat different skin types.
  • Red Light works like a laser, targeting cells beneath the skin’s surface and stimulating them so that they produce new collages and revitalize skin cell.
  •   Blue Light produces singlet oxygen. This form of oxygen is toxic for acne bacteria and will help in decreasing these bacteria and also control sebaceous glands.
  •  Green Light affects the cells that produces melanin and reduces its production. Spots on our skin will fade away over time with this light for a more rejuvenated complexion
  •   Yellow Light is idea for skin that is prone to redness, spider veins and sensitive skin.

The doctor used the RED Light for my skin. Totally no discomfort, a machine is placed over your face and when the lights is switch on I felt a warm sensation and I eventually fell asleep.

Step 4 : Deep Layer Serum Infusion

Now that the all my pores are cleaned and opened, its ready to be infused with serum. There are different kinds of serum, such as acne serum, antioxidant serum or depigmentation serum. A serum which is recommended by the doctor depending on your skin will be massaged onto the face and then covered with a paper mask and a machine is use to further allow the skin to absorbs the serum.  The mask is left on for 15 minutes.

The total treatment will take around two hours, consultation and treatment. How I felt after the treatment? I didn’t feel much difference except that I can see a little lifting on my face complexion is a little brighter. Like I always say, beauty and great skin is always about maintaining. If this treatment Is done on a monthly basis I am very confident that it will surely activate the rewind button on my skin. One Doc Medical and Aesthetic also sells the a full range of their products to patience that wishes to use this at home. Their range include Toner, Serum, and Cream and is labelled with numbers for easy usage, perfectly suitable for people like me. I am so afraid that I forget the sequence of my beauty regime that I actually label my own bottles.
