Do Dermal Fillers work for Dark Circles?

By Gaylen KaSai - Saturday, October 28, 2017

"The eyes are the mirror of the soul”, so this is the first feature that people notice about you when they first meet you. It all depends on the eyes to see if the soul of the other party catches fire or not…*ahem A pair of eyes can tell many tales, age, emotion, health are among the few. Wrinkles show up very quickly around the eye area too. Don’t get me wrong, I love the way my eyes are, it is afterall the only feature I have that I am really proud of. I have what you call a ‘Phoenix Eyes’ but behind every beauty there is some kind of pain. *Ok, I know too much drama already  Alright, you know how much I crave flawless skin and I know I am not going to achieve it because of for the longest time I have been battling with Dark Eye Circles and Eye Bags. If there is a make up I cannot live without that would be my Concealers, notice the ‘s’! One concealer won’t work on me. That is how bad. I have to stress on this so that you know how bad it is! These are all caused by  caused by a variety of different reasons, including diet, lifestyle, stress, dehydration and genetics, tho most of the time I blame it on genetics. So, correcting this problem is one of the things that I have always wanted to do but did not have the courage to do so. I finally found the courage after years of battling with my concealers.
I visited my favourite Aesthetic Clinic, Premier Clinic. You can read about my previous visit HERE. I really trust the doctors and staffs at Premier Clinic, they always never fail to give me the reassurance that I will be looking great walking out of their clinic. This time I visited with the squad. Christina witness everything 'live' as she was helping on on the filming with Hubs.

Doctor Nigel Ong was the doctor that is consulting me this round *handsome doctor Prior to consulting Doctor Nigel, I had already made up my mind that I wanted fillers, either on my Nasolabial Lines or my Under Eye Area. I highlighted to Doctor Nigel that I am worried about having fillers on my dark eye circles area which might make me blind *I heard Doctor Nigel reassured me that correction of Dark eye Circles does not cause blindness but Nose Filler does that. I was so glad to hear that, as I already had Rhinoplasty done years back. Haha. Yay. So, he checked with me one last time on what I wanted to do. Nasolabial Lines or Under eye area. Without any hesitation I chose the under eye area. Bye bye concealers. Be prepared to be Wow-ed!
I was led to the treatment room. My face was cleanse and numbing cream was applied on my undereye area all the way to my cheeks. Doctor Nigel then explained each step of the procedure to me. Doctor Nigel explained that there are several types of fillers in the market and for my treatment he will be using Juvéderm, which is a kind of hyaluronic acid base filler, a natural occurring substance in the skin. which is more suited for under eye. Dermal fillers help reduce lines and restore fullness in the face, in this case my sunken eye *I didn’t even know I had sunken eyes till the consultation, I tot they were just dark circles, gimme back my baby fats! Juvéderm is an FDA-approved collection of injectable fillers commonly used to lift the cheeks, smoothing marionette lines around the mouth, and plumping the lips. It may also be used to fill pitted acne scars or reduce the appearance of aging hands. Results typically last between nine months to a year.
Doctor Nigel used a new method for this procedure called the Cannula Method. What is this Cannula Method? A blunt tip microcannula is used instead of a needle to deliver the dermal filler into the skin. 2 holes are made on each side of my cheeks and then the insertion of the tip of the microcannula is done via these holes. The microcannula is more maneuverable due to its flexibility and this method will not only be less painful but also less stress. The Cannula Method reduce bruising, swelling, and vascular complications using a blunt tip cannula when injecting dermal fillers. There are also less injection sites, thus making this procedure a fairly quick one. You can easily get this done during lunch time as the whole procedure took about 30 mins *mine was longer, because I talk nonstop I did not feel any pain throughout except for the first 2 pokes on each side, but it wasn't painful just a little discomfort. I could feel the cannula inside my cheeks however they were painless.

I am very happy with the results of the procedure,  the ‘dent’ under my eye which creates a shadow make my dark circles more prominent, and now after I have done this procedure I use less concealer. I only used one syringe of Juvederm for this procedure *I think I need another one and also laser treatments to diminish them once and for all, I also need a face lift. Lol I would recommend this procedure to anyone who is facing similar issues, and you can get a consultation at Premier Clinic.

Watch my video to get a better idea of the procedure, and in case you are wondering why I was dressed differently in the last scene, I had to change for dinner. Yup! No downtime.
