Beer Shack is not a shack!

I was in KL last weekend to attend an event and I got lucky! Why? I was invited by Andrew Ong, owner of Sango Japanese Restaurant and also FatPapas Malaysia to check out his new place beer place in Hartamas! It has been quite a while since I drank alcohol and this trip without the kids in tow I was pretty excited. We headed to Beer Shack right after the event.

I did not google the place up before I went so I was expecting a rough exterior because of its name, and I was very impressed as I stepped in. We were greeted by very friendly staffs and atmosphere. Colorful vibrant walls with very nice graffiti, I couldn’t help it and got Iris to help me snap more than 1 picture.  Beershack is located at Desa Sri Hartamas a place I often frequent as there are many choices of cafes, bars and yes Family Mart. Lol. This is not the typical bar that I can find in Penang as Beer Shack serves food too, initially I thought they served only light snacks like many bars back home. I am very happy that I could actually have real meal here. Snack Bites or Yakitori, perfect to go with beer or if you are hungry there are so many choices from Asian, Western, Rice Bowls, Noodles  & Pasta, Salad and Soups, you will be spoilt!

The selection for draught beer are great as well. They have my favorite Tiger, Heineken and Guinness. I am content. Lol. They also have Kilkenny and Kirin, while the rest such as Tiger White, Strongbow Gold Apple, Smirnoff are served in bottles..  Cocktail choices were limited in the menu but I am sure if you ask they would be able make you your favorite. If you are more of a liquor or wine person, well fret not because they do have that too! For the non-alcoholic drinks you may opt for Mocktails, Soft drinks, Fresh Juices, Cold and Hot Beverages such as coffee, tea, or a banana smoothie, choice aplenty.

Take a look around when visiting as  I am sure you won’t miss Homer Simpson! It seems that Homer is very famous at beer shack as most patrons cannot resist taking a picture with him and his mug of beer. There are a few more graffitis on the wall of Beer Shack and I took a [more like a 100]  photo with each.So what did I have that night besides beer? Be warn that you might be very hungry after reading this. Lol.

Salted Egg French Fries (RM15), I must say this was delish! It was perfect with beer and I am crazy about salted egg. I never thought of mixing salted egg with french fries. Genius.

Beer Shack Chicken Wings (RM18) I am not really a fan of  chicken wings but this one was really good. Chicken WIngs pair with a special Thai chili sauce.

Salted Egg SKin (RM13), a little spicy but nevertheless perfect with beer. These are afterall Beer Bites and Snacks.

Let's move on to Yakitori, this is the Unagi (RM16), I don’t think you wanna read me bragging about the Unagi because you already know I love Unagi and I love Yakitori! Its perfect , wasn’t too dry a very generous portion compared to some.

Yakitori Wings (RM5) I prefer this chicken wings to the one before as I like thing grilled. This might be a bit on the saltier side but once you drink your pint of beer it would be just perfect.

Yakitori Meatball with Soya Sauce (RM6), This is very unique. You mix the meatball with the quail raw egg  and eat it. Somethin like the chinese dish when you have steamboat where you mix the mince meat with the egg but this taste way way better.

Yakitori Lamb Rack (RM15), I couldn’t believe how tender the lamb was. I finish the whole piece as my dining partners were too busy talk.

Hainanese Chicken Chop (RM13) and Chicken Cordon Bleu (RM18)

Kuro Pasta (RM12) , this dish I highly recommend. Charcoal Pasta with fried squid, ebiko and their special sauce. Everything about this dish was just exceptional and its price is also exceptional! It's a huge portion for me.

Beer shack Donburi (RM18) This is their signature donburi with chicken, cream sauce and mozzarella cheese!

There are still so many dishes that we’ve yet to try! I can’t wait to try them all but my I have a very small eating capacity. I will surely be back for more!

Thanks Andrew for having us! All your F&B outlets never disappoints! Read more about Andrews other outlets that we’ve been too Sango Japanese Restaurant . I still cannot get over the Wagyu Toban-Yaki  at Sango Japanese Restaurant. Andrew! We will be trying out Fat Papas real soon!
