This drink was invented in Taichung, Taiwan during the 80s, the sugary milk tea with tapioca nvaded countries like Hong Kong, China, Japan, the United States, Singapore, Malaysia and many more, in the past decade. The bubble tea industry is growing bigger every day in every part of the world as long as there is a Chinese community there. Yes! And the craze has now landed in Penang or should I say Malaysia. Every other time we scrolled our acebook news feed, we would see friend holding a boba drink or queuing up to buy one. In recent news there was even a minor debate online on weather these Bubble tea or also known as Boba tea is Halal.  So halal ke tak?

Well, I  attended the recent Taiwan Expo 2019 which was held in Penang and the “TAIWAN HALAL & BUBBLE TEA PAVILION” features attractive halal products that are highly regarded for their high quality production and attractive packaging. There were many halal food & beverage items, Halal beauty products and halal agricultural products being displayed and yes, even the famous Taiwanese boba is there. Bubble Tea for Taiwan is made using halal raw material which makes this an ideal beverage for our Muslim friends.

The main exhibitors at the Halal Pavilion includes five of the most iconic halal food product and bubble tea manufacturer includes Shh Chen Foods, Yilan Anyong LOHAS, FuFann Enterprise, Kuojer Enterprise and Yung Soon Lih Food Machine. The Instant Milk Tea, Premium FIsh Essence, COconut Paste and raw Bubble Tea Ingredients and Multi-functional Bubble Tea Cooker are among the highlighted products.

In addition, Taiwan Halal & Bubble Tea Pavilion will strengthen the technical cooperation in Malaysia and Taiwan's halal industry by presenting the best halal certified Taiwanese products to Malaysia, together with sharing sessions and the Nyonya cuisine delights, via the use of Taiwanese halal ingredients by Penang Celebrity Chef, Nurilkarim.
